My first days at university

After working the whole summer in Palanga, it was very strange to come back to my hometown. I really missed the people and the atmosphere of our university. I wanted to come to university as soon as I could, for I really wanted to continue improving my English. Moreover, I applied for The Erasmus Program. Even though I am afraid that I might need the knowledge of French language. For now, I am glad that we have new and interesting lectures such as Country Studies and Psychology. As a result, we are going deeper into our studies. This year I want to gain more knowledge of my subject, so I will do my best.

My reflection on the writing class this semester

During this semester we had only two classes in a month. I think that there should have been more lectures to learn more about writing. To my mind, writing plays a huge role in learning. You learn how to pay attention to grammatical mistakes, spelling and you learn how to state your opinion. You have to get a deeper knowledge and understanding of writing.
On the other hand, I liked that we had the opportunity to correct essays.  I felt like I was a teacher. I think that it would be a good idea to add more this kind of lectures next semester. Also, I liked that we wrote in blogs, as it is a good and fast way to express your opinion. I would like to write in blogs next semester as this kind of writing is more interesting.
Moreover, I liked the task about a good teacher. This task was given in a modern way. This semester’s writing tasks were more interesting as we were talking about nowadays issues. As a result, I have broadened my opinion and my knowledge of certain things.
To my mind, lectures were good, as they were taught in a different way compared to other lectures. Next semester there should be more writing lectures and more practice in correcting. I am satisfied with the classes and the lecturer.

Expectations

The first time I came to the university I had expected interesting studies. That was due to the fact that I wanted to study English philology from the 8th grade. The first month was difficult as the level of studies was completely different from school. During the lectures my interest in English has increased. The university provided many interesting subjects. For instance, in phonetics we have learnt about pronunciation. It is a very useful lecture. I’ve already learnt a lot of new things and now I am aware of words’ pronunciation. Also, in grammar lectures, I’ve seen a different side of the English language. This subject gave me the opportunity to learn English deeper. The studies have fulfilled my expectations. They have broadened my outlook on the English language and studies gave me more knowledge. The studies provide the subjects which are very useful for every student. Furthermore, I was glad that our practice at school started on the first year of studies. As you have a lot of time to see whether teaching is for you and get a deeper understanding of teaching. I expected a high quality studies. The lecturers are very qualified and they love their subject. Everything is even better than I have expected. I like the studies, lecturers and the atmosphere at university.

EUTHANASIA

Euthanasia has been widely discussed because the issue concerns a human life.It is the act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition. It is done in order to end a person’s suffering, usually done at his request or with his consent. According to a survey, there are three opinions about this issue. Some people strongly support this idea, some strongly oppose and the others are not sure whether they support it or not. Some countries are thinking about establishing this idea, but the issue of euthanasia frightens many people. That is because it is believed that euthanasia is against human rights, medicine can be improved and your religion can object to this idea.
First of all, euthanasia is against human nature. It is believed that every human has a destiny and everyone has a right to live and die when it is meant. Every person has only one life and nobody can take it away. Also, it is interesting that you can write in your will if you like to be legally killed. It is not a good way to choose your destiny as your opinion can change after some years. Later, it might be too late to change something. Moreover, killing cannot be legalized as taking a person’s life is illegal. Euthanasia seems to be whether a suicide or a murder.
Secondly, 21st century’s medicine is highly advanced. As a result, new cures from different diseases might be created. For instance, if you suffer from a certain disease which is incurable, you don’t have to give in. There is still a little opportunity that you might be cured. Moreover, doctors’ diagnoses might be wrong. Due to these diagnoses you might lose your life. Doctors have to treat, not to take your life away. If you do not fight for your life, you will lose it. It does not matter if you die, but you will know that you have done everything to fight against it. Nobody will regret about performing euthanasia, because they will be sure that everything was done. If a new cure could be invented, your family members would regret throughout their lives that they approved of euthanasia.
Thirdly, if you are a religious person, your beliefs will not let you agree with euthanasia. God owns us and it is up to Him when we die. We cannot escape from God’s wishes and every person goes to heaven when He decides. Also, suffering is God’s punishment and you have no right to escape from it and it is dangerous to do so. Furthermore, the Bible says that both murder and suicide are sins. No one enjoys suffering, but that does not mean that a person is ready to die.
Taking everything into account, it is a person’s choice how he wants to live and die. But I strongly believe that the establishment of euthanasia in our country would be a huge step backward. The thinking of our society will drastically change. Also, the number of suicides can dramatically increase. Euthanasia is not a way out. It is a rejection of the importance and value of human life, religion, personal beliefs and medicine.

What does it mean to be a good teacher

What does it mean to be a good teacher

A teacher is a person, who provides education for people. There are a lot of people who want to be teachers. If you are planning to become a teacher, you have to think a lot before doing this. It is not so easy to teach in school. In order to be a good teacher you must have these qualities. A good teacher feels a passion for teaching, has certain character qualities and he is well-qualified.

Firstly, a real teacher is a person, who feels a passion for teaching. If you want to be a perfect teacher you have to love your job. If you like your job then you will love everything that consists of it. You have to enjoy teaching in order to spread your knowledge. If you enjoy working as a teacher you will spread a positive energy and students will become more interested in a subject. Good teachers love their pupils and behave with them very well. With love, enthusiasm and dedication to your job, you will become a good teacher.

Secondly, teachers must have some qualities in order to be good teachers. They have to be self-confident, curious and creative. These qualities can help a teacher while teaching his students and lessons will be more interesting. Besides, teachers have to be interested in their pupils’ interests. As a result, students will understand a subject better. Communication between a teacher and children is very important. It can create a good atmosphere in a class. Also, teachers have to keep in touch with their pupils when the classes are over. Cooperation with students can create a bigger interest in a subject. Students will like their teacher and enjoy learning.

Thirdly, it is not a secret that teachers have to be well-prepared for subjects. Every lesson should be organized attentively and accurately. You have to prepare exercises, correct your students’ works and be prepared a new topic. Moreover, teachers have to know everything about their subject. As you have to know the subject very well to teach another person. Teacher has to be an example for students. Furthermore, they have to do their best in all lessons. Teachers have to explain everything what pupils ask. They have to find a way how to teach students, work and communicate with them..

In conclusion, I would like to say that the most important thing before becoming a teacher to be sure before making this decision. If you are a teacher, you do not have to forget that teaching requires a lot of things to be done. A real teacher has to adore his job, is the person who has teacher’s qualities and is professional in his sphere. All teachers have to be very intelligent, wise and self-confident. These qualities can help you to consider what is a good teacher.

A review of a film

“Veronika decides to die” is a drama film based on the Paulo Coelho novel. The main character of the film is Sarah Michelle Gellar starring as Veronika.  The story is about Veronika, who has everything: good looks, a job and a great life ahead of her. She is a young and beautiful woman. Nevertheless, she decides to commit suicide by ingesting too many pills. Her plan fails and she wakes up in a hospital. There she is told that she has a week to live. Veronica realizes that she has nothing to lose and does whatever she wants. In the end, it appears that the doctor lies about her illness to make her realize that life is short and everything is possible as long as you want it. “Veronika decides to die” is a very interesting film, because the plot is very exciting. Also, the soundtrack is fantastic and the actors, especially Sarah Michelle Gellar, give fabulous performances. This film is well worth seeing. It will have you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end.

Article

I have just read an article about a terrible accident which happened in 'Chardon High School', Ohio. On Monday morning, a student Mr. Lane took a gun with him to the school. In the morning, he fired his first shoots in the cafeteria. When police officers entered the school, they found five students. Three of them were unconscious and other students were bleeding. One hour later, the police found a criminal. Mr. Lane explained that he chose his victims randomly and he is sorry. Unfortunately, three of the victims have died and two others were wounded.

Emigration

The Causes Of Emigration
Emigration is the act of leaving one’s country or region to settle in another. Emigration is a widely discussed issue in the 21st century. Lithuania’s statistics department declared that 10,7 thousand people emigrate every month. Citizens of the European Union are free to cross another country’s border. As a result, the number of emigrants increases every day.  It has been noticed that emigration is caused due to economy, politic and personal reasons.
Firstly, the main aspect of emigration is based on a country’s economy. Money is a major feature why people go abroad. The need of money has increased highly. Foreign countries offer high salaries for educated people. Accordingly, the majority of Lithuania’s best specialists emigrate. Furthermore, concerning the lack of work places, people choose to live in a foreign country. Unemployment is the main reason of emigration. Besides, people want a cheaper life. They want to gain a financial stability and better future prospects.
Secondly, emigration is caused by political reasons. For instance, the war In Iraq forced many people to leave their native country. Unstable politic in a country affects peoples’ lives. What is more, lack of political freedom provokes peoples’ wishes to live in another country. For example, in Egypt the majority of citizens protest against political situation. These acts cause emigration, especially among young people. As a result, a country is not safe to live in. Additionally, political persecution causes emigration. These reasons create emigration in the whole world, as every country’s economy is unpredictable.
Thirdly, personal needs play a huge role in the cause of emigration. For example, in Lithuania a simple worker may get a higher salary than a person with a diploma. The value of a higher education has decreased rapidly.  What is more, people emigrate in order to be valued with a high education and improve their knowledge. Another personal reason is marriage. It may happen because of a mixed marriage. One of the spouses has to sacrifice and move to another country. Moreover, usually people want a higher standard of living and think that a foreign country is a solution to the problem. Therefore, most of the citizens travel abroad.
Taking everything into account, people emigrate because of many reasons. The world is changing and people have to adapt to innovations. If a person is not eager to make it, he moves to another location. Emigration is a process caused by many factors such as money, unemployment, political freedom, education and many other reasons. It is a common issue in the whole world. Emigration and the causes will last as long as life endures.
